Toulouse, is a city in southwestern France. The city is considered the capital of Occitania. With 437 100 inhabitants in 2005, it is the fourth municipality of France in terms of population. Its urban area includes 891 000 inhabitants and its urban area 1133 000 Inhabitants.
City architectural feature, Toulouse is nicknamed the «pink city» because of the color of traditional building material in local brick terracotta.

Other nickname «flowers»: «City of violets.» There is a Confraternity of violets in Toulouse, where production of this flower was very important. La Violette is one of the awards by the Academy of Floral Games of Toulouse. In the past, it was called the «City Mondine» (Ciutat Mondina in Occitan), in reference to the dynasty of counts of the city who are often appointed Raymond.
